  • GOTRIS: ITS support for cargo transport on the river of Göta Älv

GOTRIS: ITS support for cargo transport on the river of Göta Älv

An integrated traffic management system in the form of a RIS (River Information Services) specified in the EU directive on inland water transport as a precondition for a functioning inland waterway.

  • REDUCE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

    REDUCE ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT

Through better route planning and better information to the emission of environmentally damaging substance reduced.

  • SEVERAL POSITIVE EFFECTS

    SEVERAL POSITIVE EFFECTS

Using Göta Älv for transport can have positive effects for the region, both for safety and environmentally by railroad unloaded and by the increase in truck traffic can be reduced.

  • INCREASE TRANSPORT SAFETY

    INCREASE TRANSPORT SAFETY

By reducing the number of serious accidents and reduce the number of unexpected events will transport safer.

  • PROJECT CHALLENGES

    PROJECT CHALLENGES

One of the project's major challenge is to collect the large amounts of data from different actors and systems, to process information for various purposes.

  • INCREASE THE TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY

    INCREASE THE TRANSPORT EFFICIENCY

By increasing the use of inland waterways and filling the vessels. By shortening the travel time, reduce workload, reduce bunker consumption and to ensure efficient and cost effective connections for intermodal transport.

Welcome to GOTRIS.
A research and innovation project to develop a platform to solve the various stakeholders needs and demonstrate traffic management between different modes of transport.

The project carried out during 2012-2014 where 102 vessels together performed 499 voyages supported by GOTRIS.

By bringing together all the actors and let Rail, Maritime and Road share information and services in a RIS (River Information Services) for the Göta River the project will demonstrate how Vänern and Göta River shipping can be controlled and guided at the passages of the bridges and locks. This enabling so that disturbances to road and rail transport can be minimized, while the vessel is optimized.
The project will develop a pilot version of GOTRIS platform where information sources from the railway, the City and shipping will be integrated. Models for control and optimization, as well as functions for ships, traffic management and road system will be developed. The technology system  tested in the demonstration involved vessels, operators and users.
